The One You’re Looking for Is You
I had a whole thing about self-trust that I was going to share, but waking up to the news that overnight, the Supreme Court effectively paved the way for overturning Roe v. Wade has me on one today.
Because it’s not just this devastating decision in the fight for reproductive freedom.
It’s also climate disaster, like what we’re seeing in the wake of hurricane Ida (consider giving here if you can).
It’s also the defense industry and its investors getting rich off of the longest war in history that may be “over,” but the consequences of which continue to be far-reaching and extremely violent.
Most of all, it’s that all of these events are manifestations of a culture of white supremacy, capitalism, and fascism that’s literally everywhere, hurting and killing Black, brown, and poor folks the most.
I have so many thoughts, but mainly want you to know this:
Now’s the time to stop playing small.
If you’ve stayed out of activism and anti-racism work or fallen away from them as we all try to survive the end of the world, please: come back. We need you.
If you have money to give to pro-choice candidates, abortion funds, and others who are fighting for everyone’s liberation, we need you.
If you feel called to run for office, we need you.
If you can agitate and disrupt injustice within your family system and social circle, we need you.
If you’ve burned out and can ground in care and community, we need you.
We need you to take up space.
We need you to be loud.
We need you to remember that “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for” (June Jordan).
No one is coming to save us but us.

P.S. Tristan and I dropped the Season 2 premiere of ALL THE F*CK IN today. Listen to us talk all things radical care and transformation over on Apple or Spotify, or stream straight from our website here.
P.P.S. The Take Up Space Mentorship begins this Tuesday, September 7. If you’ve been on the fence for any reason, I’m here to answer questions and help you decide if this is the right time for you to dig into this work in a group setting. Please reach out and I’ll get right back to you.
